PAT Testing And The Law
PAT testing itself is not a legal requirement, however all employers including self employed individuals will be required by their insurers to ensure that they are compliant with a range of legislation:
- Health and Safety at Work Act of 1974
- The Electricity at Work Regulations of 1989
- The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations of 1998
- The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations of 1999
Part of this means there is an obligation to ensure that all electrical equipment that you provide in your business is safe and properly maintained.
